Mikayilov Aruz Metaf oglu was born in 1984.

He graduated from high school in 2001.

In 2001-2005, he completed his bachelors degree in "Geography Teaching" at the Faculty of Geography of the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University.

In 2005-2007, he graduated with honors from the Faculty of Geography of Baku State University, majoring in "Geomorphology".

In 2007-2010, he received full-time doctoral education at the Faculty of Geography of Baku State University in the specialty "Physical Geography and Biogeography, Soil Geography, Landscape Geophysics and Geochemistry".

He has been a member of the Azerbaijan Geographical Society since 2010.

In 2018, he defended his PhD thesis on the topic "Comprehensive study of the desertification process in the landscapes of the Kura Basin and measures to combat it."

In 2011-2013, he worked as a part-time teacher at the "General Geography" department of the Faculty of Geography of the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University.

From 2012 to 2023, he worked as an hourly teacher at the "Physical Geography" department of the Faculty of Geography of Baku State University.

From September 2022 to the present, he has been working as a lecturer at the "Ecology and Environment" department of the Western Caspian University School of High Technologies and Innovative Engineering.

He is the author of 36 scientific articles and theses, 4 educational programs. He has participated in international and national conferences and trainings, and has been awarded relevant certificates.
