The Bachelors Degree Program in the specialty 050118 – “Socio-Psychological Services in Education” (hereinafter referred to as the Education Program for the specialty) has been developed in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On Education,” the relevant resolutions of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the “Classification of Specialties (Programs) at the Bachelors (Basic Higher Medical Education) Level of Higher Education,” as well as based on the Education Program for the specialty 050118 – “Socio-Psychological Services in Education,” approved by Order No. F-381 of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated August 28, 2020.

 Program Structure

   The Bachelors degree program in "Socio-Psychological Services in Education" is an on-campus academic curriculum designed to equip students with the principles and practical knowledge necessary for the effective organization and delivery of socio-psychological services within the educational system. Socio-psychological services in education represent a specific branch of psychological services that focuses on addressing the challenges related to the educational process and its participants.

   The implementation of psychological services in education—considered one of the essential components of societal development—aims to support the development of each childs individual characteristics and creative engagement with life. This profession plays a significant role in enhancing the efficiency of educational institutions, fostering the psychological and harmonious development of students, and preventing potential delays, deviations, or disorders in their growth.

   Professionals working in this field are expected to possess strong empathetic abilities, demonstrate responsibility, diligence, and patience, and show a commitment to continuous professional development. They must also be capable of generating non-standard solutions to complex problems. This field is particularly well-suited for individuals with a strong interest in psychology and social research.

   In order to be awarded the degree, students must complete a pre-graduation internship.

Qualification Objectives for the Specialty of Socio-Psychological Services in Education

The qualification objectives for the specialty of Socio-Psychological Services in Education aim to ensure that students acquire in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of education and are able to apply this knowledge effectively in real-life situations.   2. To create a supportive psychological environment in kindergartens, boarding schools, general education institutions, and similar settings that promotes the childs healthy development, and to facilitate productive communication with peers and adults;
  3. In addition to working with children, to provide timely psychological assistance to teachers, parents, and caregivers.

Graduates of the "Socio-Psychological Services in Education" program are trained as professionals equipped with the skills to provide timely psychological support not only to children in educational settings but also to teachers, parents, and caregivers. The primary objective of socio-psychological services in education is to ensure a psychologically supportive environment for the mental well-being of preschool and school-aged children, to optimize the individual development of each child as a subject of the educational space, and to address psychological challenges that may arise in the learning process.As a result, graduates are equipped with the competencies to support childrens cognitive, emotional, and social development, personality formation, and to provide psychological assistance in preventing negative outcomes such as substance abuse (alcohol or drugs), suicidal behavior, school dropout, aggression, and other maladaptive behaviors.
