WCU Students Undertake Internship at the Institute of Genetic Resources
Fourth-year Biology students of Western Caspian University are involved in practical activities at various scientific and medical institutions as part of their industrial internship program.
The primary objective of the internship is to provide students with the opportunity to apply the theoretical knowledge they have acquired during their higher education in a practical environment, to familiarize themselves with modern laboratory methods and equipment, and to further develop their professional competencies.
A group of students is carrying out their internship at the Institute of Genetic Resources (IGR) of the Ministry of Science and Education. During the internship, they have become acquainted with the activities of several departments and laboratories of the institute, including the Biochemical Genetics and Technology, Physiological Genetics, and Vegetable and Melon Crops Departments, as well as the Germplasm and Human Genetics Laboratories.
During the first days of the internship, students were provided with detailed information about the scientific research conducted within the institute’s structural units, the modern laboratory methods applied in research, and the instruments and equipment used in these processes.
Throughout the internship, the students were also informed about the activities carried out by the National Genebank related to the collection, preservation, and sustainable utilization of plant genetic resources for the benefit of future generations.
