The Department of Natural Sciences has been operating since 2017. As one of the core academic units of Western Caspian University, the department provides undergraduate education in Biology, Aquatic Bioresources and Aquaculture, as well as Food Engineering. The teaching process is based on modern methods and technologies, aiming to equip students not only with theoretical knowledge but also with practical skills.
The departments staff conduct research across various scientific fields. Key areas of research include biological diversity, classical and molecular genetics, human genetic disorders, as well as aquatic bioresources and aquaculture. Faculty members actively participate in both local and international projects, with the results published in reputable scientific journals.
The department places special emphasis on involving students in scientific research, fostering research skills, and promoting interdisciplinary approaches. The scientific achievements contribute to the countrys biological safety, sustainable use of bioresources, and food security.
